Tinted Windows.

No, it’s not the newest version of our “favorite” operating system, but the latest “supergroup” to be formed, composed of The Smashing Pumpkins‘ James Iha, Fountains of Wayne’s Adam Schlesinger, Cheap Trick’s Bun E. Carlos and — are you ready for this? — Hanson’s Taylor Hanson. I’m as surprised as you are.

Their first single, Kind of a Girl, is what I’d like to call poppy fun. Their debut live performance will be at the South by Southwest on March 20, and the release of their debut album is scheduled for April 21.

I must admit it’s been a while since I’ve listened to Hanson… or any of the Hanson boys (or should I say, men).  This comes as a nice surprise, but I hope this is just a “side project” for Taylor since I would hate to see the Hanson disbanded (like what happened to my other favorite boy boy band [to distinguish them from the older boy bands during that time, *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys and Boyzone] The Moffatts).

Speaking of “side projects”, I’d like to see some new A Perfect Circle material resurface (especially since I read somewhere that Maynard James Keenan and Billy Howerdel are keen on making some new music again), so having Tinted Windows as a side project would work great for James.

But for now, of course, I’m happy to have Tinted Windows fill in the void, and garner its own music success.

  1. Taylor Hanson and James Iha? I gotta listen to this.

Hanson has a yearly gathering of musicians in Tulsa, if I’m not mistaken, where they write songs for future releases under whoever artist… or just for fun haha. I know Jason Mraz was there for the 2008 one, tapos Dan Haseltine from Jars of Clay in 2007. Hehe. Random things I found out. I love Hanson… they’re better than Moffats and the Jonas Brothers, IMHO hehe.

I didn’t know Hanson did that! I look at their website only now and then. Hmm… since I’m a Moffatt fan (I’ll coin it as “Moffan” hehe) I can’t agree with you, but yes, Hanson is better than the Jonas Brothers! :) )
